Lookman, who just transferred to Atalanta from RB Leipzig for €15 million, replaced Luis Muriel in the 63rd minute of the hotly contested match.
In the 26th minute, Rafael Toloi gave Atalanta the lead after Mario Pasalic set him up. The victory and three points were then secured by Lookman in extra time after a pass from Ruslab Malinovskyi.
However, he didn’t score until more than ninety minutes had passed, with what was nearly the final kick of the match, he produced Atalanta’s second goal.
The 24-year-old had defended a Sampdoria attack at the Atalanta goal by moving deep before taking advantage of a loose ball.
