Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has opened up about the challenges he faces adapting to life in the German Bundesliga.
Onyeka, who recently joined FC Augsburg on loan from Brentford, shared insights into the differences between playing in Germany and his previous experience in the Premier League, Footballrover reports.
After spending three seasons in England with Brentford, where he found it difficult to secure a consistent place in the starting lineup, the 26-year-old midfielder made the switch to Germany just before the transfer window closed.
While he’s grateful for the opportunity, Onyeka admitted that adjusting to the Bundesliga’s demanding style has not been easy.
During a recent interview with Sulaiman Adebayo, popularly known as Pooja, Onyeka reflected on his experience so far in Germany, expressing appreciation for the support he’s received from his new teammates.
He highlighted the stark difference between the physical demands of the two leagues, with German football presenting a faster and more intense style of play.
Onyeka, who has just one assist for his team, acknowledged that he’s still in the process of adjusting but remains hopeful that he’ll find his rhythm soon.
The 26-year-old midfielder explained that things are going well for him, expressing gratitude to God and noting that he is contributing his bit to the team as much as he can.
“But the main difference is that they run a lot more in Germany. I’m still trying to adapt to the club, but the players are doing their best to help me settle in,” Onyeka said.
Onyeka’s comments come ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON 2025 Qualifier against Libya, where he will be looking to prove himself on the international stage once more.
Despite the challenges of adapting to a new league, the midfielder remains focused on improving his game and contributing to Super Eagles success.
