Its no longer news that Rivers United have been drawn to play against Young Africans of Tanzania in the quarter-finals of the CAF TotalEnergies Confederation’s Cup.
The Nigerian Premier Football league champions will be hosting the opening leg of the quarter-final match in Nigeria on Sunday, April 23.
The last time these two teams faced off was in 2021, and Rivers United came out on top in both legs. Two years later, the sides are scheduled to meet once more.
The NFPL Champions were asked by the Tanzanian team via their official Twitter page if they are prepared for the fight.
The Young Africans further stressed that they have a score to settle and that they will be coming to Nigeria to conquer the Stanley Eguma side.

It remains possible that Rivers United would continue to play their home matches at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo for the first leg of the match.
But then, will the Port Harcourt outfit kickoff the quarterfinal stages at their newly remodeled home stadium?
Prior to the quarter-finals match, the Rivers United home ground, Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium underwent extensive upgrades.
Some of the new changes are;
– Newly installed electronic score board.
– Newly installed seats for players on the bench and officials, dilapidated walls painted, top notch pitch
– Dressing rooms were given a facelift.
– Floodlights were changed.
– Stadium was painted.
– Grasses were also worked on.
The Stadium is currently awaiting approval, and Footballrover understands that CAF officials were already at the stadium for inspection.
CAF officials spoke to the media after the inspection;
“The Stadium has changed from what it was looking like when we came last time. The pitch is also Ten times better than the last time we where here.”
In the opening leg of the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United may play at home in Port Harcourt, giving their supporters another chance to see their beloved team in action.
