After the thrilling encounter at the Awka City Stadium, where Enugu Ranger secured a remarkable 4-1 victory, their captain, Chukwudi Nwaodu, has come out to reveal how it feels to bang in two goals against a stubborn Kano Pillars side.
The star of the match, Chukwudi Nwaodu, played a pivotal role by netting two crucial goals that turned the tide in favour of Rangers, Footballrover reports
The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, as Rangers found themselves trailing by a goal early in the game.
However, their relentless spirit and the infusion of youthful exuberance proved to be game-changers.
Rangers made a remarkable comeback, equalising before halftime and unleashing a goal rush in the second half that left their visitors stunned.
After the match, the former Heartland FC star Chukwudi Nwaodu expressed his contentment with the team’s performance and the victory, claiming that it was a significant win for their team.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, who spoke to the team media, acknowledged that he’s delighted with the goals he scored, attributing their victory to the youthful players in the team, their high energy levels, and their determination.
“It was a great win for us, and we played against a big side in Kano Pillars. I am very happy for the goals I scored today and even more happy for the victory for our club. At 0-1, I was positive that we would emerge victorious due largely to the fact that we had a team with young players filled with running energy. We push on for better results,” Chukwudi Nwaodu said.
Meanwhile, Rangers chief coach Alli Suleman admitted that his team’s ability to overcome an early setback to secure a significant victory will remain a huge morale boost.
Alli Suleman claimed it was a very big win for them and attributed all the glory to God, while adding that it was a challenging match against a team with the immediate past coach of Rangers.
“We had to shrug off the early deficit and had a better second half where we killed off the game. We thank our supporters for being there for us even when we were behind. This win means a lot towards achieving our set targets for the season,” he said.
Rangers now sit atop the league standings after the victory, having accumulated ten points from five games while allowing six goals and scoring ten.
Their focus will now be on the visit to Lafia Township Stadium in Nasarawa State on Thursday, where they will trade tackles with Lobi Stars on match day six.
