Akwa United’s head coach, Fatai Osho, attributes their goalless draw against Bendel Insurance on matchday five of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season to effective preparation.
Osho, speaking to the club’s media, emphasized their understanding of Bendel Insurance’s playing philosophy, Footballrover reports
The Promise Keepers’ coach revealed their thorough readiness to counter Bendel Insurance’s style and create attacking opportunities.
The former Rivers United chief Coach, however, commended his players for flawlessly executing his tactical game plan during the 0-0 draw against Bendel Insurance last Saturday.
“They still have the same coach and maintain the same playing philosophy, so we came prepared with the knowledge of the team and we told our players what to do to slow them down while looking for the chance to hit them offensively,” he said.
Fatai Osho and his team faced immense pressure due to four winless games at the season’s start, seeking a morale boost.
The former NPFL champions delivered a stellar performance, securing their first away point this season in the goalless draw. Although both teams had a few chances, neither found the back of the net.
“You can’t take anything away from Bendel Insurance team because they are well organized, I can remember vividly how they played in the super-six championship playoffs in Lagos at the end of last season,” Osho said.
Despite the draw, the Uyo based club remains at the bottom of the NPFL table. Their next match against Gombe United on Wednesday is an opportunity to build on this result.
