Niger Tornadoes’ head coach, Hamza Abara, has expressed deep concern over his team’s recent performance in the Nigeria Premier League (NPFL), specifically after a disappointing 0-0 draw against Remo Stars.
The team has faced a challenging season, managing only three victories out of 12 NPFL matches, Footballrover reports
Coach Hamza cited their struggles in converting scoring opportunities as the primary cause of their sleepless nights and poor results.
Despite their relentless efforts in their recent match against Remo Stars, the Ikon Allah Boys couldn’t breach the opponent’s defence, resulting in a goalless draw.
Coach Hamza admitted their failure to execute their planned strategy for securing maximum points.
He emphasised that while chances and creativity weren’t lacking, the team’s Achilles’ heel lay in converting these opportunities into goals.
“What we planned for was a win, but we couldn’t conquer, which is quite disturbing because we’ve been having sleepless nights trying to correct how to convert our chances,” he told the club’s media.
The coach revealed their commitment to providing the necessary guidance for goal-scoring, claiming they’ve been diligently working on this aspect.
With only three wins, three draws, and six losses in 12 games this season, the Minna Boys currently sit at the 16th position in the NPFL standings after their recent draw with Remo Stars.
The team faces another tough challenge as they prepare to play against Kwara United on Sunday. They aim to reverse their fortunes and improve their standing in the ongoing NPFL season.
