The Board of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has directed the legal, and technical departments of the federation to swiftly initiate guidelines for establishment of football academies in Nigeria.
The board said the existence of the guidelines will eradicate the operation of ill-equipped and substandard football academies in the country.
The board commended the efforts of the federation and the Interim Management Committee of the NPL, headed by Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye, in the prevailing football season, particularly in the organization of the NPFL playoff.
The board thanked the IMC for discharging its mandate with distinction.
The Executive Committee also discussed other crucial issues and came to the following decisions, which were included in a communique made accessible to the media:
– The Board congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima on their new positions and expressed confidence in their commitment to youth empowerment and international image-building through football.
– The Super Eagles also were praised for qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations, but were encouraged to show more dedication to ensure a successful tournament.
– The Super Falcons were urged to excel at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Nigeria Premier Football League season was commended.
– The State Elections Monitoring Team and the Normalization Committees were recognized for their work, and the Board promised to constitute Governing Boards for various leagues.
– The number of members in each standing committee was increased, and the NFF Secretariat was praised for its performance and urged to continue improving.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Men’s Federation Cup Champions, Bendel Insurance went home with the sum of fifteen million naira as men’s category prize money, while runners up, Rangers International of Enugu were rewarded with the sum seven million, five hundred thousand naira.
