Egyptian magician Mohamed Salah has just carved his name into Premier League history once again, achieving a remarkable milestone that ties him with one of the competition’s all-time greats.
With his latest performance, Salah has now scored and assisted in a Premier League game for the 36th time, matching Wayne Rooney’s record, footballrover reports.
In a dominant 2-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield, Salah’s contribution helped Liverpool open up an 11-point gap over the defending champions.
This victory also marked a significant low for City, who have now gone seven matches without a win in all competitions—Pep Guardiola’s worst run as manager.

City’s troubles were clear early on, with Guardiola making a change in goal, dropping Ederson in favour of Stefan Ortega.
The German goalkeeper was immediately tested, making multiple saves, including denying Dominik Szoboszlai twice.
Despite these efforts, Liverpool’s relentless attack finally paid off. A brilliant pass from Salah set up Cody Gakpo to score in front of the Kop, giving Liverpool a well-deserved lead.
City’s insistence on playing from the back only invited more pressure, and Liverpool continued to create chances.
Virgil van Dijk came close to extending the lead, while Salah missed a golden opportunity when he shot over the bar after intercepting a poor pass from Bernardo Silva.
Despite the missed chances, Liverpool continued to dominate the game, and a second goal came in the 78th minute.
Luis Díaz was fouled in the box by Ortega, and Salah calmly converted the penalty, sealing the win and contributing to his 13th goal in his last 11 appearances against City.
This victory leaves Liverpool comfortably ahead at the Premier League summit, while Manchester City faces increasing challenges, sitting outside the top four.
