Michael Kayode has started off preparations for the new season on a solid note, as he grabbed an assist to ensure his team Brentford secured a well-deserved victory over QPR during their preseason game.

The 21-year-old Nigerian defender provided the only goal of the contest as the Bees edged out QPR 1-0 at Loftus Road on Saturday evening, Footballrover reports.
Michael Kayode’s Assist Unlocks Brentford Victory
Kayode cut inside and floated a left-footed ball into the area, where Nathan Collins ghosted in behind The Hoops’ defence and guided a header just inside the post.

On the same day he was announced as Brentford’s new captain, Nathan Collins scored the decisive goal in a narrow preseason win over The Hoops in the West London derby.
The centre-back nodded in a Kayode cross just two minutes into the match, with his header finding the bottom corner.
Solid Performance from The Bees’ Young Guns
The visitors, under Keith Andrews’ guidance, then produced a solid performance to preserve the lead and secure the victory.

While Kayode got an assist to his name, his compatriot and Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka came on in the 76th minute to replace Fabio Carvalho and help see out the game.
Recall that 27-year-old Onyeka rejoined the Premier League team following a successful loan spell at Bundesliga side FC Augsburg, where he featured in 34 games but contributed just two assists.
Kayode, who also provided just one assist in his 12 appearances for the club last season, featured for 76 minutes before Jayden Meghoma came on to take his place for the remainder of the game.
