Ademola Lookman has officially handed in a transfer request, making public what has been months of behind-the-scenes tension at Atalanta.

The Nigerian winger, who played a starring role in La Dea’s UEFA Europa League triumph last season, says he’s had enough of the “broken promises” and what he calls “poor treatment” from the club’s management, Footballrover reports.

— “Over the past three years at Atalanta, I’ve given absolutely everything… But despite now receiving an offer in alignment with what I believe had been discussed, sadly the club is blocking the opportunity for reasons I do not understand.”

The 26-year-old emphasised that he stayed loyal through previous transfer approaches, believing in the project and the promises made by La Dea’s ownership. But now, he says, his patience has run out.

Lookman’s journey at Nerazzurri has been filled with highs and lows.
