Lobi Stars head coach Eugene Agagbe has expressed disappointment as his team failed to find the back of the net in their 1-0 defeat against Akwa United at Eket Township Stadium on Sunday, after missing several opportunities.
The only goal of the encounter came through a powerful strike by Seyi Oguntayo from outside the box, which sealed Akwa United’s third win of the campaign in 13 league games, Footballrover reports.
On the other end, the narrow setback inflicted Lobi Stars with their third defeat in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season.

Speaking to the club’s media shortly after the game, the young tactician claimed that the goal conceded was a result of the waterlogged Eket pitch.
“That ball can even beat any of the World Cup goalkeepers, so I’m not blaming him for that goal; I take responsibility for the loss,” he said.
He stressed the need not to blame his goalkeeper for the minor error leading to the goal.
“Well, my team showed more character in the second half. In the first half, they couldn’t play. Itâs very unfortunate that we were not able to equalise the goal,â he concluded.
Despite the defeat, the Pride of Benue still maintains a strong position on the NPFL table, as they currently occupy third place with 23 points, only three points behind league leaders, Remo Stars.
Looking ahead, coach Eugene and his army will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in their next fixture as they set to trade tackles with another formidable side, Doma United, at the Lafia Township Stadium on Sunday.
