Kwara United head coach Tunde Sanni was left in disbelief after his side’s unexpected defeat to Bendel Insurance, a team they rarely struggle against.
Despite dominating large periods of the match, Sanni’s men were undone by critical lapses in concentration, resulting in a shocking 3-1 loss that left the entire squad stunned, Footballrover reports.
The defeat, which took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Saturday, was a blow to Kwara United, marking their first loss in three league matches.
The Harmony Boys had hoped to continue their strong run, but Bendel Insurance didn’t let that happen, despite losing their head coach, Monday Odigie.

Nazir Mohammed netted a brace, while Austin Ogunye added a third for the hosts. Emmanuel Ogbole’s lone goal was all that Kwara United could muster in reply.
The result dropped Kwara United to 10th position on the league table, a setback that has left the team reflecting on their performance.
Coach Sanni, who had hoped for better results, expressed his deep disappointment.
Sanni was particularly frustrated by the rare occurrence of his team conceding three goals in a single match.
The coach could not attribute the loss to fatigue, as he emphasised that the team’s approach to the game was solid.
“It was a bad day in the office. Despite our efforts and the fact that we played better in some phases, lapses in concentration cost us dearly.”
“This team rarely concedes goals, let alone three. I can’t attribute it to fatigue, but the outcome is disappointing,” Sanni told the club’s media.
Looking ahead, Kwara United will aim to bounce back quickly as they face Heartland in midweek action at the Kwara State Stadium.
