Heartland FC technical adviser, Emmanuel Amunike, has voiced deep frustration over what he describes as a long-running pattern of administrative negligence that has cost the club valuable revenue for more than a decade.
Speaking passionately, Amunike questioned how a professional club could operate for 16 years without earning a single kobo from player transfers or FIFA-mandated development fees, Footballrover reports.
Amunike Calls Out 16 Years of Player Transfer Failures at Heartland
“You can’t run the club for 16 years and tell me that in that 16 years, you have not been able to transfer players. And no player, no money comes to Heartland.”
According to him, such a record points to structural failings that have weakened the club’s sustainability.
Amunike cited the example of a former Heartland player, Chibuke, who moved to Enyimba.
Expecting Heartland to receive the standard developmental compensation, he personally reached out to FIFA to clarify the club’s entitlement.
The response he got was startling.
FIFA informed him that Heartland FC did not appear anywhere in the player’s registration history.

Instead, the records credited a different outfit entirely — Borussia Academy — as the player’s developmental club.
“So you see, we have to begin to tell ourselves the truth,” he said.
In practical terms, this means Heartland forfeited the compensation due for a player who, according to Amunike, spent two full years in their system.
For the former Super Eagles star, the issue goes beyond just one player.
Amunike emphasised that truth-telling and accountability are now essential if Heartland is to rebuild properly.
He reminded stakeholders that the club belongs to the community and that today’s decisions will shape what generations of supporters will find when they return to the stadium years from now.
“This is our club. One day all of us will be aged. And we, in the group of sport, will walk to the stadium if we are here to come and see our young ones playing. So it’s our duty.”
His message was clear: Heartland cannot continue on a path where poor administration deprives the club of income, recognition, and long-term stability.
