Kano Pillars set NPFL record with stunning 4-goal first half vs. Enugu Rangers

Kano Pillars made history in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) by becoming the first away team to score four goals in the first half of a match since their impressive outing against Gombe United in December 2023.

Kano Pillars set NPFL record with stunning 4-goal first half vs. Enugu Rangers

Pillars’ latest feat came during their thrilling 4-3 victory over Rangers, after displaying their relentless attacking strength, Footballrover reports.

Kano Pillars joins Akwa United as the only club to score four or more first-half goals on multiple occasions in NPFL history since 2013/14.

Impressively, out of the eight clubs that have scored four or more first-half goals in the NPFL, Pillars are now the only club to achieve this feat away from home.

How did Kano Pillars achieve this new benchmark?

Kano Pillars broke the deadlock with style when Rabiu Ali coolly slotted home a penalty after an Ahmed Musa cross was handled in the box.

Just 10 minutes later, Zulkifilu Muhammed extended the lead in the 28th minute, capitalising on a brilliant assist from Musa, who zoomed past his defender like a rocket.

Not long after, Musa was brought down again in the box, giving Pillars another chance from the spot, which Ali confidently converted for his second goal of the match.

Musa wasn’t finished yet; he dazzled the crowd with a brilliant solo run, weaving through four defenders before finding the net, making it 4-0 just before halftime.

But the second half told a different story as Rangers mounted an impressive comeback.

Isaac Saviour struck twice, and Nenrot Silas added a late goal in stoppage time, narrowing the score to 4-3.
