Saidu Salisu, a former Flying Eagles forward, has officially joined Swedish powerhouse IFK Gothenburg from Kano Pillars with the intention of acquiring a long-term contract.
Saidu Salisu, the player from Nigeria’s Kano Pillars Fc, has been unveiled by the Swedish top division team IF Goteborg after joining on season long loan.
A contract for a loan with an option to buy has been negotiated for the 20-year-old striker, who had been on trial in Sweden for the previous two weeks.
The forward impressed the management during the two-week trial and persuaded them to push for the transfer.
After 15 games in the opening round, IF Goteborg is ranked seventh in the Swedish Allevaskan and the forward, who scored just one goal for Pillars will be looking to help the Swedish side rise to the top.
On August 1, 2022, Goteborg will play host to NorrkΓΆpping in the opening match of the second half of the season. Salisu might make his debut in that match.
In an effort to get past the negative memories of being relegated from the NPFL with his old club Kabo Pillars, Saidu Salisu will play alongside fellow countryman Suleiman Abdullahi for IF Goteborg.
The two-time Nigerian Professional Football League champion – Saidu Salisu, who previously played for Plateau United and Akwa United, joins Goteborg in the hopes of scoring enough goals to persuade the team to pursue a permanent transfer at the end of the current Sweden Allevaskan season.
With Saidu Salisu’s departure, Kano Pillars will undoubtedly lose majority of its senior players after being demoted to Nigeria’s second division at the conclusion of the recently completed NPFL season.
“I’m glad to be here and I’ll do my best to help the club.” He said.
