Kano Pillars head coach, Usman Abdallah, has expressed admiration for the influence of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa following his recent return to the NPFL club.
Abdallah highlighted the positive energy and leadership Musa has brought to the team, which has already started yielding results on the pitch, Footballrover reports.
The former Leicester City winger, known for his international exploits, rejoined Kano Pillars for a third stint.
His recent performances have injected a much-needed boost into the team’s morale.
In his debut match, the 32-year-old delivered a standout performance, netting two goals in Kano Pillars’ 2-0 victory over Sunshine Stars.
The brace shows Musa’s ability to still influence games at a high level, a factor Abdallah believes will be vital for the club’s ambitions this season.
Following a 2-0 defeat to Akwa United in a matchday six NPFL clash, Abdallah spoke highly of Musa’s contribution, despite the setback in Uyo.
“Ahmed Musa has come with a whole lot of positives to this team, Kano Pillars,” Abdallah stated.
Musa’s leadership and experience are key to Kano Pillars’ success
Musa, who began his professional journey with Kano Pillars over a decade ago, has returned with a level of maturity and leadership that has made a lasting impression on the team.
Abdallah noted how Musa’s mere presence draws fans to the stadium, both at home and away fixtures, creating a lively atmosphere wherever they play.
Reflecting on Musa’s first game back, Abdallah shared,
“Yesterday (on Sunday, 13 October, 2024), against Akwa Utd, he played his second match for us (Kano Pillars). He scored two goals in his first match for us against Sunshine Stars. It would have been a hattrick.
“He’s the captain of the team. He started off his career from Kano Pillars and provides that motivation and leadership on the pitch. And I’m sure you saw that yesterday during the match (against Akwa United).
“Besides, his presence pulls more spectators to the stadium, not just only when we play at home but when we play at away as you saw in Uyo.”
The 109-cap veteran first left Kano Pillars in 2010 to pursue a successful European career, starting with a move to Dutch side VVV Venlo before spells at CSKA Moscow and Leicester City.
Now back with his boyhood club, Musa is determined to help Kano Pillars return to their former glory.
