In an exclusive interview with Footballrover on Sunday, Rangers International star Kalu Nweke expressed his desire to play for the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team.
This came after his team’s heartbreaking 2-0 loss to Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, which dented their NPFL title hopes, Footballrover reports.
The match saw the Pride of Rivers dominate proceedings, with Alex Oyowah scoring the first goal in the 34th minute with a header from Kazie Enyinnaya’s excellent delivery.
Deputy Echeta then sealed the victory with a thunderous effort, finishing a brilliant team move involving Ukeme Williams, Andy Okpe, and Alex Oyowah, who finally provided the assist.
Rangers International put up a good fight, but the home side’s solid defence and swift counter-attacks proved too much for them to overcome.
The victory was a massive boost for Stanley Eguma side, who displayed so much determination, sweat, and steel till the final whistle.

Despite the outcome of the game, the Flying Antelopes’ star remains optimistic about his national team’s aspirations.
The 24-year-old midfielder claimed that the expectation of every player is to feature for the national team, especially the Super Eagles, and as such,
“I am hoping my day will come with the national football team, the Super Eagles,” he said.
Nweke is fully prepared to walk his way to the top, and the Nigerian national male team is the ultimate goal.
With his impressive performances for the Coal City side, the ex-Abia Warriors star might just get his chance to shine on the national stage soon.
Only time will tell if his dream will come true, but first, the centre midfielder must help his team bounce back to winning ways when they host Plateau United on Sunday.
