Bendel Insurance on Sunday evening secured a valuable point away from home in a scoreless draw against Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Match Day 31 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The visitors, under the guidance of Coach Monday Odigie, were close to clinching their first away win of the season but were denied by a missed penalty in the 53rd minute by Sunday Anyanwu, Footballrover reports.
Goalkeeper Amas Obasogie emerged as the hero for Bendel Insurance, making several crucial saves throughout the match to deny Pride of Makurdi a goal.
His heroics earned him the Man of the Match award.
The encounter lived up to its billing as both teams displayed tactical awareness and attacking prowess.
Lobi Stars dominated possession and created more goal-scoring opportunities, but the resolute defence of coach Odigie’s men and Obasogie’s brilliance in goal kept them at bay.
The stalemate extends Bendel Insurance’s unbeaten run to three games, following a 1-1 draw against Kwara United and a 2-1 victory over Kano Pillars in their previous outings.
The Benin Arsenals will now shift their focus to their upcoming home fixture against Heartland FC of Owerri on Match Day 32, scheduled for April 27th at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
