Juventus hero Jennifer Echegini is currently flying high and overjoyed following her brilliant hat-trick in the 4-0 hammering of Fiorentina in the Serie A women’s showdown.
The Super Falcons star stole the show on Saturday evening, netting her first career hat-trick as the Bianconeri cruised to a comfortable victory against Fiorentina, Footballrover reports.
After Julia Grosso handed Juventus an early lead barely 10 minutes into the match, Echegini took control of the game and scored Juventus’ second goal three minutes later after Lineth Beerensteyn set her up.
Two more goals were added by the 23-year-old Nigerian midfielder in the space of six minutes to seal off the huge home win.
The young starlet, who is gradually becoming a fan favourite for her dedication and determination, remained humble after the match, crediting her teammates for her success.
While reflecting on her performance after the game, Echegini told reporters,
“I’m, firstly, really excited, and I want to give props to my team. For every one of those goals, we all worked for them, and they’re great team goals.”
She acknowledged the importance of positioning herself well and emphasised that her teammates played a crucial role in her achievement.
Jennifer went on to say that she strives to make a positive impact in every opportunity she receives, regardless of scoring.
Echegini’s goal-scoring prowess is nothing new. Last season, she notched an impressive 16 goals, displaying her natural ability in front of goal.
With her confidence soaring after her hat-trick performance, Echegini has set her sights on even greater achievements.
“I know my strengths. I always try to put myself in the best position to score; that’s one of my best attributes, and I want to make use of it as best I can,” she said.
Since joining Juventus in January, the attacking midfielder has already netted eight goals in eight league games for the team.
It is now expected that Echegini will reunite with her Super Falcons teammates ahead of their 2024 Olympic Games qualifying match with Bayana Bayana of South Africa.
