Jude Bellingham, the new Real Madrid midfield star, scored an extra-time winner in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) opener against FC Union Berlin, saving the Spanish giants from a potentially embarrassing draw at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Group C, round 1, match against FC Union Berlin was played at the Santiago Bernabeu in front of Madrid’s home fans.
Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Real Madrid failed to break the deadlock in regular time.

The former Dortmund star saved the day for the Spanish giants, who were on the verge of a humiliating Champions League opener against their German counterparts.
Bellingham, however, came to the rescue in the fourth minute of extra time, converting a rebound after Federico Valverde’s shot was saved.
The win was a huge relief for Real Madrid, who were under pressure to start their Champions League campaign with a victory.
Bellingham’s goal was the perfect way to mark his debut in the competition for the Blancos.
The England international has now scored six goals and provided one assist in six games for Real Madrid this season, making him one of the most impressive summer signings in Europe.
