Joy Omewa has continued from where she left off last season, scoring twice to inspire Fortuna Hjorring to a commanding home win against Aarhus Women in a Denmark Elite Division clash over the weekend.

After delivering 22 goals and four assists in 24 appearances last season for Fortuna Hjorring, Omewa has picked up right where she left off, Footballrover reports.

The striker and her magic foot kicked off the new campaign in style, opening the scoring early and setting the tone for another brilliant performance.

This marks her fourth season at the club, and the numbers keep climbing with each campaign—8 goals and two assists in 21 appearances during her first season, six goals in 19 games in her second year, and a remarkable tally of 22 goals last season.

The A-Liga Women encounter saw the Super Falcons prospect score the first and third goals as Fortuna dismantled Aarhus 4-0 at the Nord Energi Arena.

It took barely two minutes for the hosts to get going. Omewa, sharp and decisive, latched onto Signe Søndergård’s clever assist to slot home the opener.

Søndergård then added her name to the scoresheet nine minutes later, doubling Fortuna’s advantage and making it clear that the afternoon would be one-sided.

Right on the stroke of halftime, the duo combined again—Søndergård feeding Omewa, who finished with composure to make it 3-0. Aarhus simply couldn’t cope with their pace and precision.

After an hour of tireless running, Omewa received a standing ovation as she made way for Pernille Pedersen in the 66th minute.

Ten minutes later, Pedersen struck the final blow, sealing the 4-0 victory and underlining Fortuna’s dominance.

Focus Shifts to Champions League Qualification

With the victory secured, Omewa and her teammates now turn their attention to their biggest challenge yet: Wednesday’s Champions League qualification semi-final against Hibernian Women.
