Big defender Igoh Ogbu delivered a commanding performance to help Slavia Praha pull off a stunning 4-3 comeback victory over Rafiu Durosinmi’s Viktoria Plzen in an entertaining Czech First League showdown on Saturday evening.
The Nigerian centre-back played all 90 minutes and capped his solid display with a vital assist against Viktoria Plzen—his contribution sparking a revival that overturned a 3-1 deficit into a dramatic win at the Eden Arena, Footballrover reports.
Igoh Ogbu’s assist against Viktoria Plzen turns the tide
Ogbu’s assist came during a frenetic second half. A week after sealing the Czech 1 Liga title, Slavia looked headed for defeat after conceding three goals to Plzeň—courtesy of Šulc, Vydra, and Memić.
But Zafeiris began the fightback in the 57th minute, Zima levelled in the 69th, and Holeš sealed the comeback just four minutes later, converting Ogbu’s assist against Viktoria Plzen with finesse.
Durosinmi, on the other hand, started on the bench and was introduced in the 60th minute. By then, Slavia had already shifted momentum.
Slavia Praha’s title swagger shines through
Despite resting key players like Oscar and Chorý, Slavia burst out with intensity.
Schranz opened the scoring early, but Plzen quickly responded and looked dominant for long spells.
Still, Ogbu marshalled the backline, helping prevent a late equaliser after Holeš’s decisive goal.
Slavia have now beaten Plzen in four consecutive league meetings and extended their home unbeaten run this season to 16 matches.
Ogbu’s role was central—not just defensively, but in orchestrating the comeback with his timely assist against Viktoria Plzen.
