Super Falcon Star Gift Monday, has taken to her social media platform to express her joy and celebrate scoring a crucial goal for her team UD Tenerife during their recent LigaF showdown against Eibar over the weekend.
Despite the outcome of the match, Gift, who was proud of her team’s performance and fighting spirit, expressed optimism for future improvements, Footballrover reports.
In the thrilling encounter at the Football Field (Adeje), the Super Falcons star scored the equaliser to rescue her side from a potential defeat.
Gift and her teammates were stunned when their visitors hit the back of their net barely a minute into the game. Arana Mugueta fired the opening goal for Eibar.
The Nigerian forward and her colleagues simply turned the game around after that shocking opener, exerting their dominance, and it took them 27 minutes later to level the score.
Gift Monday came to the rescue with a fine finish to pull her side back into the game, and the scoreline remained that way heading into the interval with nothing much to talk about in the second period of the game.
It ended 1-1, with both sides sharing the spoils after the final whistle.
Despite registering well over five shots in her 90 minutes of action in the game, Gift Monday could only find the back of the net once.
Reflecting on the game, Gift expressed her satisfaction, stating,
“I’m glad to have scored a goal for UD Tenerife in our draw against Eibar! Despite the result, I’m proud of our team’s fighting spirit. We’ll keep improving! Better days ahead,” she wrote on her X page (formerly Twitter).
With a total of six goals and one assist in 27 appearances for UD Tenerife, the 22-year-old forward remains a key player for the team.
The draw leaves UD Tenerife in 9th place in the league standings, accumulating 32 points, one ahead of their opponents, who sit in 10th place.
Looking ahead, Gift Monday and her teammates will now prepare for the curtain closer at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis de Sol, where they will trade tackles with Real Betis on Saturday while Eibar will host Granada the same day.
