Super Falcons legend Francisca Ordega continues to make her mark in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, but her efforts were not enough to save Al Ittihad from another setback.
The Nigerian forward found the net early, but her team crumbled under pressure, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Al Nassr on Saturday, Footballrover reports.
After a dominant 3-0 victory over Al Amal in their last match, Al Ittihad had hoped to build momentum. Instead, they collapsed like a pack of cards, extending their inconsistent run in the league.
Francisca Ordega shines, but Al-Ittihad fall to Al-Nassr
Ordega wasted no time in making an impact, scoring just 13 minutes into the match to hand Al Ittihad the lead.
However, the advantage was short-lived. Nine minutes later, Duda Francelino equalised for Al Nassr, sending both teams into halftime level.
The real heartbreak came just after the break. In the 48th minute, Duda struck again, this time sealing the win for the home side.
Despite Ordega’s early impact and her compatriot Ashleigh Plumptre leading as captain, Al Ittihad struggled to mount a comeback.
The struggles continue after Al-Ittihad’s defeat to Al-Nassr
Since joining Al Ittihad, Francisca Ordega has been a key figure, contributing two goals and two assists in just four appearances.
However, her side’s poor form remains a huge concern.
Al Ittihad have now lost seven of their last ten matches, managing just three wins. Sitting in 7th place with 18 points, their chances of climbing up the table are fading fast.
Next up, they face Al Taraji, hoping to turn their season around. Can Francisca Ordega inspire her team to bounce back, or will their struggles continue?
