San Diego Wave has officially announced the sudden departure of Nigerian promising talent Favour Emmanuel from the club with immediate effect.
The club revealed that they have mutually agreed to terminate the midfielder’s contract with San Diego Wave, Footballrover reports.
This announcement, made earlier today, signals an unexpected end to Emmanuel’s brief stint with the California-based club.

The official statement from San Diego Wave FC sheds some light on the situation.
According to Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton, the termination of the contract with San Diego Wave was a mutual decision made “to allow her to return home to Nigeria.”
Ashton added, “We thank Favour Emmanuel for her contributions to the Wave and wish her well for the future.”
Favour Emmanuel’s brief time with San Diego Wave
Nigerian international Emmanuel’s time with San Diego Wave FC was indeed short-lived.
She made a total of just two appearances across all competitions, with one of those being a starting role.
The 22-year-old midfielder’s move to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team from Russia’s Lokomotiv Moskva is now a closed chapter.
Having previously played for Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens in NWFL, she was given the number 24 jersey and filled an international player spot, but her time with the team has abruptly come to an end.
However, while her impact on the pitch was limited by the brevity of her stay, the club’s statement indicates a respectful parting of ways.
