It took just two minutes for the deadlock to be broken, and it was none other than Aliyu who delivered the goods.

Building from the back, the Crew launched a swift counterattack down the left wing.

The 23-year-old Nigerian midfielder arrived perfectly in the box, latching onto a low cross from Lassi Lappalainen and slotting it home.

This opening goal against Vancouver was his second for the Columbus Crew in just eight appearances, marking a significant contribution to his team’s much-needed revival.

Columbus Crew’s comeback propelled by Aliyu
