Former NPFL star Ezekiel Tamara has taken to social media to celebrate being named Man of the Match during his team’s Al Naft SC league game against Naft Al-Janoob in Iraq.
The 23-year-old midfielder picked up the match honours in a match that saw both sides fail to find the back of the net at the Al-Madina International Stadium on Wednesday evening, Footballrover reports.
Despite playing out a goalless draw against their visitors, the former Bendel Insurance star expressed his gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and fans for the award in a social media post.
Tamara said that the award is an honour and that he couldn’t have achieved it without the support of his team.
The Nigerian midfielder also emphasised the importance of teamwork and expressed his appreciation for being part of a dedicated team that held their opponents to a hard-fought tie.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude for being awarded Man of the Match. It’s truly an honour, and I couldn’t have achieved this without the support of my teammates, coaches, and fans. Every game is a collective effort, and I’m thankful to be part of such a dedicated team.” Ezekiel Tamara wrote.
Ezekiel Tamara has now bagged his first award after moving from the Nigerian League to the Iraqi outfit, and he will be hoping for more to come.
With his team currently in 7th place in the Iraqi Premier League with 22 points, Ezekiel Tamara and his teammates will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they host Al-Mina’a on Saturday.
