Nasarawa United head coach, Kabiru Dogo, has expressed his disappointment after his team was held to a 1-1 draw by Shooting Stars in their opening game of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Coach Dogo says the Oluyole Warriors were just lucky to share the spoils with them after the final whistle.
Dogo, in a post-match interview, claimed that the visitors’ experience in NPFL was the only reason they managed to escape with a point from the encounter, Footballrover reports.
The Solid Miners took the lead at the Lafia Township Stadium in the second half, thanks to a penalty from captain Anas Yusuf in the 59th minute.
However, Shooting Stars snatched a late equaliser through Samuel Ayanrinde in stoppage time, breaking the hearts of the home supporters.

Reflecting on the match, Dogo praised his players for their effort but acknowledged that a lack of experience was their downfall.
“I’m full of praises for my boys, as they put in their best but came short in terms of experience,” the coach said.
He lamented his team’s missed opportunities, noting that Nasarawa United created far more chances than their opponents but failed to convert them.
Shooting Stars, on the other hand, only had two real chances, and they made one count.
Dogo concluded by suggesting that Shooting Stars were fortunate to leave Lafia with a point.
“For me, 3SC were just lucky. Experience made the difference, and that’s why they managed to get something from the game,” he said.
Nasarawa United will be looking to sharpen up and convert their chances in future matches, hoping to turn promising performances into victories as the season progresses.
