The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a directive compelling all clubs to establish official websites and maintain active social media platforms.
This decision, aimed at enhancing fan engagement and exploring new revenue streams, was reached during a one-day summit for club media directors held in Makurdi, Benue State, Footballrover reports.
Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, officially opened the summit and pledged significant support to local football development.
He accelerated the timeline for the Aper Aku Stadium’s renovation to eight weeks, announced plans to rebuild the Gboko Township Stadium, and promised to purchase three buses for Lobi Stars.
During an interactive session with club media directors, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Prince Davidson Owumi emphasised the importance of digital platforms.
He informed attendees that clubs without websites would receive a formal notification to rectify this within one month.
Owumi also urged media officers to prioritise professional development to improve their ability to connect with fans and communities.
The summit featured presentations from industry experts, including NPFL Director of Media Harry Iwuala, who discussed the role of effective club media officers.
Andrew Randa provided insights on leveraging multimedia tools, while Barrister Uche Egbe elaborated on the league’s framework and rules.
Representatives from StarTimes and GTI Assets Management also shared their perspectives.
