Enugu Rangers suffered a shocking collapse in their NPFL matchday seven fixture against Kano Pillars, conceding four first-half goals in a seven-goal thriller in front of their home fans.
For the first time in nine years, the Flying Antelopes let in four goals in the opening 45 minutes, a disastrous repeat of their 4-2 defeat to Wikki Tourists in May 2015.
The reigning NPFL champions were completely dismantled by the relentless attacking prowess of Kano Pillars’ star, Ahmed Musa, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The Super Eagles captain orchestrated Rangers’ downfall, spearheading Pillars’ attack with blistering pace and pinpoint assists.

His involvement in all four first-half goals left the Coal City side in tatters as they struggled to contain his influence.
Enugu Rangers stunned by Ahmed Musa’s masterclass
Kano Pillars secured a 4-3 victory over Rangers, with Rabiu Ali netting two penalties after Musa’s involvement in both.
Zulkifilu Muhammed added a second goal following a Musa assist, while Musa himself capped a brilliant first half with a solo strike, making it 4-0 by halftime.
Rangers staged a strong second-half comeback, with Isaac Saviour scoring twice and Nenrot Silas adding a stoppage-time goal, but Pillars held on for their third win of the season.

Despite their spirited fightback, Rangers’ lack of composure in the first half ultimately cost them any chance of a recovery.
One might be wondering what went wrong? However, coach Fidelis Ilechukwu will need to swiftly address the team’s defensive frailties, especially with tougher fixtures looming.
