In a month filled with stellar performances, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Manager and Player of the Month awards for March 2024 have found their deserving recipients, with Enugu Rangers Coach and Akwa United Striker grabbing it all.
Fidelis Ilechukwu, the head coach of Rangers, and Akwa United’s forward, Sani Suleiman, stand out as the esteemed winners of these prestigious accolades, Footballrover reports.
Suleiman’s remarkable achievements on the pitch during March secured him the Player of the Month title.
With five impressive goals to his name, including crucial strikes that propelled Akwa United to surprising victories against Plateau United and Enyimba, Suleiman’s impact was undeniable.
His contributions came shortly after joining Akwa United during the mid-season transfer window, showcasing his adaptability and skill.
Facing tough competition, Suleiman emerged victorious over notable contenders such as Godwin Obaje and Ejike Ugochukwu from Rangers, Adams Olamilekan of Remo Stars, Christian Pyagbara of Shooting Stars, and Nenrot Silas of Plateau United.
On the managerial front, Fidelis Ilechukwu of Rangers claimed the Coach of the Month award for his exceptional leadership throughout March.
Despite previously being nominated in October 2023 and February 2024, Ilechukwu clinched the title for the first time this season.
Under his guidance, the Flying Antelopes secured three wins and two draws, scoring seven goals while conceding only three.
This impressive performance propelled the Enugu-based team to the top of the league table, maintaining an impressive 10-game unbeaten streak.
Currently leading the NPFL standings with 51 points from 28 games, Rangers’ dominance under Ilechukwu’s tutelage has been crucial for the Coal City side.
The League Bloggers Awards, in collaboration with sponsors 54Footballx, will honour both Suleiman and Ilechukwu during ceremonies at their respective home grounds this weekend.
However, despite Suleiman’s individual success, Akwa United finds themselves in a precarious position battling relegation, currently sitting in 18th place on the table.
