Tanzanian Premier League club, Ihefu Sports Club, has made a bold decision of banishing former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) star, Morice Chukwu, from their starting lineup.
The midfielder, who joined the club from Singida Fountain Gate FC, has been sent on loan as the club seeks to move on this season without the Nigerian, Footballrover reports.
Chukwu, a highly-rated talent who previously donned the colours of Rivers United, was expected to be a key figure for Ihefu Sports Club this season.
However, the club has opted to explore other midfield options, leading to the shocking decision to exclude the Nigerian from their first eleven.
Recall that Morice Chukwu, the Nigeria U-23 star, was unveiled by Singida Fountain Gate FC, a Tanzanian Premier League side, in August last season, where he wore jersey number 11.
But after joining from Rivers United FC on a three-year deal, the 22-year-old quickly switched to Ihefu FC, also in the Tanzania Premier League, just six months later.
Now, the ex-Akwa United star is on the move again, this time on loan, which is surprising given his reputation as a solid player.
His latest destination is Tabora United, where his arrival increases the number of Nigerian players at the club to four.
Joining Chukwu at Tabora United are goalkeeper Sochima Victor, midfielder Shedrack Asiegbu, and Chigozie Chilekwu, formerly of Enyimba FC, all on one-year deals.
Chilekwu left Enyimba last month after his contract expired, while Sochima and Shedrack also exited Rivers United under similar circumstances.
Tabora United is becoming a new haven for Nigerian stars, and all eyes will be on these players to see how they perform for their new club.
