Below is the full interview and what Alex has to say.
Can you tell us more about your journey from being a fan of Football Manager to now being featured as a scout in FM24?
Ah, the journey from fan to feature! It’s been quite a ride. Initially, I was just a passionate player, immersing myself in the intricacies of being a football manager by managing a club, hiring and firing staff, and setting budgets for club operations.
Over time, my love and understanding of the game led me to start scouting, and the team invited me to contribute as a scout for FM24.
It’s been a rewarding transition, combining my love for the game with a chance to influence its development.
For Ndace, seeing himself as a character in a game he’s been playing since his teenage years carries particular importance.
Seeing myself represented as a football manager holds a special significance for me.
It’s a validation of my knowledge and passion for the game, as well as a tribute to the countless hours I’ve invested in playing and understanding it.
It’s like a dream come true to be part of something that has been such a big part of my life for so long.
As an assistant researcher, Ndace played a pivotal role in bringing the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) into the game.
He shared some insights into his role as an assistant researcher and how he contributed to bringing the NPFL into the game.
My head researcher sets the pace for the tasks and responsibilities for the Nigerian division.
Nice to see my Assistant Researcher that happy.
I hope for a glorious future with you because it is just the beginning. @FootballManager #NGAFootballManager https://t.co/jXwUErJQFp— Wolfgang Gasparik ???????? ???????? (@FM_Austria) March 4, 2024
My roles include collating the data in an accurate and secure manner, inputting the data into the database, and making any amendments to the data in the database as instructed by the head researcher.
What challenges did you encounter during the research process, and how did you overcome them?
During the research process, one of the main challenges was ensuring accuracy and relevance in the data provided.
Football is a dynamic sport with constant changes in player performance, tactics, and team dynamics.
To overcome this challenge, I relied on a combination of thorough research, staying updated with the latest news and developments in the football world, and consulting with experts in the field.
We experienced some drawbacks from the clubs because some of them weren’t cooperative with providing data on their players.
Some were very cooperative when we made them understand how important it was for the NPFL to be in the game.
How do you envision this experience impacting your future involvement in the game or football industry?
Being featured as a scout in Football Manager has opened up exciting possibilities for my future involvement in both the game and the football industry.
It has given me a platform to further share my insights and knowledge with fellow players of the game, as well as potential opportunities to contribute to future iterations of the game.
Overall, it is always a pleasure to add value, help, and make sure our football keeps growing and being on the faces of people outside the continent.
