The Turkish First League lit up midweek, and two Nigerian stars, Emeka Eze and Paul Mukairu, were right at the heart of it.
The Nigerian duo stole the spotlight in separate thrilling encounters, but it was their sharp decision-making and match-turning contributions that left fans with so much excitement, Footballrover reports.
One delivered a game-winning goal, while the other set up a crucial strike—both crucial in pushing their clubs further up the table.
Emeka Eze the hero again as Pendikspor pull off comeback
It was another moment of magic from Emeka Eze on Wednesday evening as the 28-year-old striker powered Pendikspor to a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over MKE Ankaragucu at the Pendik Stadium.
The visitors struck first, with Owusu Kwabena finding the net just 13 minutes into the game.
But Pendikspor didn’t flinch. Mesut Ozdemir quickly levelled matters five minutes later to pull his side back into the contest.
Then came the moment that changed everything. Ten minutes before halftime, Emeka Eze latched onto an opportunity and buried the ball in the net—his 10th goal of the season.
With two assists also in his name, the Nigerian forward now boasts 12 goal contributions in the campaign.
Although the second half failed to deliver more goals, the first-half fireworks were enough to hand Pendikspor all three points and lift them to 14th place on the log with 45 points.
Eze remains the club’s talisman, consistently delivering when it matters most.
Paul Mukairu’s classy assist helps Boluspor cruise to victory
Meanwhile, on the other end of the league, Paul Mukairu made his presence count in Boluspor’s convincing 3-1 win over Sakaryaspor at the Çorum Şehir Stadyumu.
Florent Hasani opened the scoring just 12 minutes in, and Khouma Babacar doubled the advantage shortly after.
Paul Mukairu, deployed in a creative role, played a key part—delivering the assist for Babacar’s goal before being subbed off in the 80th minute.
Though Sakaryaspor briefly threatened a comeback through Emre Demir early in the second half, Boluspor sealed the deal when Husamettin Yener restored the two-goal cushion.
The win pushes Boluspor to 8th place with 48 points, keeping their hopes of a strong finish alive.
For Mukairu, it was another assured performance, proving he’s got the flair and vision to make a difference.
With Emeka Eze and Paul Mukairu in this kind of form, Nigerian fans have every reason to keep their eyes on the Turkish First League.
The duo will surely continue to raise the bar—obviously they’re not done yet.
