The 23-year-old forward, currently on loan from Copenhagen, bagged his first two goals for Reading in spectacular fashion, propelling them to a dominant win in the EFL Trophy at St James Park.

Reading made a strong entrance into the EFL Trophy with the unbelievable performance, overpowering Exeter City, who were high flyers in League One.

Reading displayed a youthful lineup despite facing a formidable opponent who sits at the summit of the League One table.

It was a historic night for young striker Jayden Wareham, who made his first-team debut, and a noteworthy first start for loanee Paul Mukairu.

The Royals their attacking mentality right from the beginning, with Tom McIntyre finding the back of the net just three minutes into the match, setting the stage for what was to come.

An own goal further extended Reading’s lead.

The second half saw Reading in full control, with Paul Mukairu and Dom Ballard each scoring twice, along with goals from Caylan Vickers, Ben Elliott, and Taylan Harris, creating a remarkable final scoreline.

This outstanding victory propelled Paul Mukairu and his teammates to the top of Group O with three points, narrowly followed by Arsenal U-21.

The loss marked Exeter City’s worst-ever defeat as their young team conceded six goals in the final 30 minutes, leaving them at the bottom of the table.

Both teams will now shift their focus back to Football League One fixtures. Reading is set to face Blackpool on Saturday, while Exeter City will take on Oxford United on the same day.
