El-Kanemi Warriors head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has boldly declared his team’s intentions ahead of their NPFL 2024/25 season opener against Enugu Rangers this Saturday, revealing what they’ll do during the game.
Zubairu, with a glint of determination, promised that his Borno Army would give the Flying Antelopes a fierce battle, with the aim of snatching all three points from the away fixture, Footballrover reports.
The NPFL newcomers are set to lock horns with the Coal City giants at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, and Zubairu is confident that his Warriors will rise to the challenge.
While speaking to the Nigeria Premier Football League website ahead of the clash, the coach said,
“We’re going to give Rangers a good fight and get something from the match.”
The El-Kanemi Warriors boss also expressed his team’s readiness for the high-stakes opener, acknowledging Rangers’ aggressive recruitment of top players but insisting that it won’t dampen their own ambitions.
“I respect Rangers because they’ve been busy signing top players,” he said.
Both teams will be entering this clash as champions in their own right.
While the reigning Nigerian Premier League champions, Rangers will be looking to assert their dominance, El-Kanemi Warriors will enter the match with confidence, proudly bearing the title of President FA Cup champions.
As both teams prepare to clash, it’s worth noting that El-Kanemi Warriors recently faced a setback, being eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup’s first preliminary round by Dadje FC of Benin Republic.
