Granada’s Nigerian sensation, Edna Imade, delivered a crucial performance on Sunday afternoon to inspire her team to a dramatic 3-2 victory over Levante in their Liga F Matchday 11 encounter.
Playing away at Ciudad Deportiva de Buñol, the fast-rising forward netted her seventh goal of the season in a high-stakes contest that saw them sweat it out till the final whistle, Footballrover reports.
Coming off a disappointing run that included a 1-0 defeat to Espanyol and a 1-1 draw with Levante Badalona, Granada needed a win to regain momentum—and they found it in this nail-biting five-goal thriller.
The match got off to a rocky start for Granada, as Ana Franco gave Levante the lead just nine minutes in.
Super Falcons hopeful Edna Imade sparks Granada’s revival
Struggling to find rhythm, the visitors went into halftime needing a spark to turn their fortunes around. That spark came in the form of Edna Imade.
The 24-year-old forward levelled the score eight minutes into the second half with a clinical finish.
This marked her second consecutive game on the scoresheet as she continues to prove why she’s Granada’s most reliable attacker this season.
Imade had an outstanding performance, and despite being substituted in the 74th minute, she recorded two shots on goal, completed 11 accurate passes, and made five recoveries.
She also excelled in the final third, with three key passes and 100% success in ground duels.
Granada survives late scare to secure vital win
Following Imade’s equaliser, Laura Requena and Alexia Fernandez added two more goals for Granada, seemingly putting the match to bed.
However, Levante’s Ines Rizo struck late to reduce the deficit, setting up a tense finish, but Granada’s defence held firm, securing their third win in five matches.
This hard-earned victory keeps Granada in 9th place with 13 points as they prepare to face Deportivo La Coruña in their next Liga F fixture.
