In a thrilling encounter at the Ligat Al Women’s Relegation Round, Bnot Netanya secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Hapoel Nir Ramat Hasharon (women) courtesy of a late strike from Ebi Onome.
The match’s only goal came from the boot of Nigerian star Ebi Onome, who converted a decisive penalty kick late into the game to seal the victory for her team, Footballrover reports.
The nail-biting encounter ended with a goalless first half and a second period that seemed to be heading for a stalemate.
But Onome had other plans, stepping up to the spot in the 84th minute and calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to send the Bnot Netanya bench into excitement.
The 40-year-old defender, who has been in fine form this season, took to social media to express her delight at scoring the winner.
“A decisive penalty kick yesterday, mehn… after a very long time of deciding not taking penalty kicks, I just have to do it yesterday for the team,” she wrote.
The win was a crucial one for Bnot Netanya, as they look to climb up the league table with hopes of avoiding relegation. 
With Onome leading the charge, the team will be hoping to build on this momentum and secure more victories in the coming week.
Recall that Ebi Onome made a move to Bnot Netanya after a brief stint with Naija Ratels in the Nigeria Women Football League.
This followed a 15-year period abroad, where she played for various top-tier European teams before returning to the domestic league and joining Ratels ahead of the 2023–24 season.
