Lithuania’s I Lyga witnessed a Sunday stunner as Daniel Omokhoa’s early strike inspired FC Neptunas to a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Ekranas in an entertaining match at the Aukštaitijos stadionas.
The 24-year-old forward’s goal against Ekranas, his first in four appearances, proved crucial in securing three vital points for his team, Footballrover reports.
Daniel Omokhoa’s opening goal sets the stage
The visitors drew first blood in the 36th minute when Daniel Omokhoa pounced, putting Neptunas in the lead.
However, Ekranas responded after the interval, with Eimantas Abramavičius levelling the score in the 57th minute, fuelling hopes of a comeback for the home side.
Neptunas then made a tactical substitution in the 66th minute, bringing on Brazilian Saimon for Omokhoa—a change that ultimately paid off.
Omokhoa’s decisive goal secures Neptunas victory
With the game hanging precariously, Aironas Trakšelis stepped up in the 83rd minute to fire home the winning goal, sealing a significant away win.
This victory marks Neptunas’ fourth consecutive unbeaten game, comprising a draw and three successive wins.
Despite this impressive run, they currently sit in 4th place with 23 points from 11 matches and are set to face BFA Vilnius next.
