Enyimba star Chijioke Mbaoma shared his excitement after securing his first brace of the season, propelling his team to a resounding 4-0 victory against NPFL counterparts Gombe United in Aba.
The People’s Elephant displayed their dominance at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, with Mbaoma’s brace complemented by goals from Uche Collins and Imot Obot’s brilliant freekick, sealing a commanding win.
Mbaoma’s spot-kick initiated the scoring, setting Enyimba on the right path to victory, Footballrover reports.
He then capitalised on a defensive lapse to notch his second goal of the game, taking his tally for the season to an impressive 10 goals from 18 appearances, with 2 assists to his name.
Reflecting on his performance, the 21-year-old expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to secure a comprehensive win.
“It was expected because before the game we all believed that we were going to score more than three goals in the game,” he told the club’s media.
Speaking about his first brace of the season, Mbaoma expressed his emotions, saying that,
“Scoring my first brace of the season makes me really happy. We are so excited, and it’s good to see Enyimba at the top of the table,” he added.
With an eye on maintaining their position at the top, Mbaoma emphasised the importance of consistency, asserting,
“We will stay consistent henceforth to remain in the position,” the forward concluded.
Enyimba’s victory catapults them to the summit of the table, signalling their intent to dominate the NPFL for the second season.
