The 16-year-old forward, who impressed last season with 32 goals in just 18 matches for Arsenal’s U18s, has joined the Red Devils after the expiration of his contract with the Gunners, Footballrover reports.

Obi-Martin, born to a Danish mother and, of course, a Nigerian father, moved to England from Copenhagen in 2020 and has been a standout youth player ever since.

His goal-scoring prowess was further highlighted when he netted 10 goals in a single game in Arsenal’s U16s 14-3 victory over Liverpool last November.

His extraordinary talent quickly attracted interest from top clubs, but it was Manchester United who ultimately secured his signature.

The transfer was completed after lengthy negotiations over a compensation fee, as the youngster is still under 18.

Obi-Martin had previously agreed to personal terms and passed a medical at United’s Carrington training complex, but the final deal was delayed due to Premier League regulations.

Now, with both clubs reaching an agreement, the Danish youth international is set to begin his journey at Old Trafford.

Path to first-team football for Chido Obi

Obi-Martin’s decision to leave Arsenal was motivated by concerns over the club’s lack of a clear development plan for him to progress into senior football.

At Manchester United, however, the forward was promised a structured pathway to first-team opportunities, which was a major factor in his decision to switch clubs.

He will initially join United’s U18 squad but has his sights firmly set on breaking into the senior team in the near future.

United’s coaching staff have expressed high hopes for the striker, seeing him as one of the brightest young talents.

“I’m very happy to sign with Man United, an amazing club. It’s now time to focus and achieve all my dreams,” said Obi-Martin.
