The Nigerian striker registered his sixth goal of the season, but Leverkusen were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw, Footballrover reports.

Boniface’s early strike sets the pace

Leverkusen entered the match looking to recover from their 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich.

It took just four minutes for the Super Eagles star to make an impact, expertly finishing a pass from Exequiel Palacios to hand Leverkusen a 1-0 lead.

The 23-year-old Nigerian nearly doubled his total three minutes later, but Holstein Kiel goalkeeper Timon Weiner made a stunning save.

Leverkusen extended their lead in the eighth minute through Jonas Hofmann, who converted a clever pass from Palacios.

Boniface thought he had netted a second goal shortly after, but VAR ruled it out for offside.

Holstein Kiel stun Boniface’s Leverkusen with second-half comeback

Despite Leverkusen’s dominance, Holstein Kiel found a way back into the match.

Max Geschwill’s header from a corner reduced the deficit just before halftime.
After the break, Jann-Fiete Arp levelled the game with a well-taken penalty in the 69th minute, following a foul in the box.

Boniface, who had been instrumental throughout the first half, was substituted in the 70th minute for Patrick Schick.

He finished the game with 25 touches, three shots on goal, and one chance created.

However, his efforts weren’t enough to prevent Leverkusen from dropping points for the second consecutive match.

Leverkusen’s draw leaves them winless in two matches, slipping to fifth place in the Bundesliga standings with 11 points.

They now look ahead to their next league fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt, hoping to bounce back and regain their form.
