Mauricio Pochettino has parted ways with Chelsea Football Club by mutual consent, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure as the Blues’ head coach.
The Argentine coach agreed to his departure on Tuesday morning, following a two-day meeting with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali as part of the club’s end-of-season review.
Despite leading the team to European qualification with an impressive run of five consecutive wins at the end of the season, Pochettino’s exit comes after just one season in charge.
He also guided the Blues to the final of the Carabao Cup and the semi-final of the FA Cup.

In a surprising gesture, directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley extended an olive branch to Pochettino, saying,
“He’ll be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time, and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.”
One thing is certain: the door has been left open for a potential return, and only time will tell what the future holds for both parties.
Mauricio Pochettino, however, expressed his gratitude to the Chelsea ownership group and sporting directors for the opportunity to be a part of the club’s history.
“The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come,” he said.
The 51-year-old coach leaves Chelsea after just one year of his two-year contract and is set to receive a significant compensation fee.
Footballrover understands that the Blues will now prioritise appointing a young manager to replace Pochettino, marking a new chapter in the club’s history.
