Blessing Nkor emerged as a thorn in the side of Galatasaray, leading her team, Gaziantep Asya Spor, to a resounding 4-1 victory on Sunday in the Turkish Women’s Super League.
Nkor’s stellar performance over the weekend, including a goal and two assists, propelled Gaziantep to a crucial 4-1 win, Footballrover reports.
The Falconet star’s dazzling display proved instrumental in securing Gaziantep’s first win after three consecutive defeats.
Nkor Takes Centre Stage:
The match kicked off with an own goal from Galatasaray’s defender, Emine Esen Ecem, handing Gaziantep an early advantage with a terrible defensive disaster.
Just eleven minutes later, Nkor, a graduate of the Osklean Football Academy, registered her name on the scoresheet.
The former NWFL star capitalised on yet another poor clearance from the Galatasaray defence, embarking on a mesmerising solo run before finishing with aplomb to double the lead.
Galatasaray Responds, But Gaziantep Remains Undeterred:
Arzu Karabulut pulled one back for Galatasaray in the 33rd minute, offering a glimmer of hope for the home team.
However, their joy was short-lived, as Bella Rose restored Gaziantep’s two-goal cushion just three minutes later.
Gaziantep Holds Strong Despite Red Card:
The momentum shifted slightly in the 70th minute when Gaziantep’s Rita Akaffou received a red card, reducing them to ten players.
Yet, Nkor and her teammates displayed remarkable resilience, continuing to dominate possession and creating scoring opportunities.
Nkor Wins Penalty, Seals Dominant Victory:
Nkor’s tireless efforts earned Gaziantep a penalty in the 90th minute, which Tatiana Matveeva converted with precision to put the game beyond reach.
Nkor’s penalty win came after another scintillating solo run, highlighting her individual brilliance throughout the match.

Gaziantep Seeks to Build Momentum:
Despite the impressive victory, Gaziantep remains in 11th place on the table with 19 points, significantly behind Galatasaray, who now occupy second place after being dethroned by Fenerbahce.
However, Nkor’s inspiring performance has injected new life into the team, and they will be looking to carry this momentum into their next fixture against Fomget GSK women on Sunday.
Nkor, who has eight league goals this season, continues to be her team’s top scorer.
