Bendel Insurance has made a bold statement ahead of the upcoming Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season by signing 18 new players as they set for an exciting campaign.
In what can only be described as a transfer market masterclass, the Benin Gunners are making it clear that they mean business, aiming to dominate the league with a formidable squad, Footballrover reports.
Top Signings Lead the Pack
Leading the list of new recruits are former Enyimba stars Uche Collins and James Oronsaye.
Both players bring a wealth of experience and talent to the team, having been key figures in Enyimba’s previous successes.
Their arrival is expected to strengthen Bendel Insurance’s defence and midfield, providing the team with the stability and creativity needed to challenge for top honours.
The club has also secured the services of Kayode Oke from Shooting Stars, Suleiman Solihu from Kwara United, and Emmanuel Ugwu from Dakkada FC.
Other notable signings include Moses Ajiboye from Nasarawa United, Isaac Ajibola from Sporting Lagos, and Chinedu Onyinjekwe from Fame FC.
Building a Winning Team
Edo State Commissioner for Sports, Yusuuf Alli, addressed the new signings, urging them to maintain discipline and focus as they integrate with the existing squad.
“Discipline and teamwork are key to our success this season,” Alli said.
The commissioner noted that they want to make Edo State proud again, and they’re confident that Bendel Insurance would be a force to reckon with, given the quality of the players they have brought in.
Yusuuf Alli emphasised the importance of blending the new talents with the established players, ensuring that the team operates as a cohesive unit.
This, he believes, is essential for achieving the club’s ambitious goals this season.
Eyes on the First Match
Bendel Insurance’s revamped squad will have their first opportunity to display themselves on Sunday, September 8, 2024, when they host Rivers United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
