Enugu Rangers declare player wanted – The Flying Antelopes has thrust itself into the spotlight by announcing the sudden disappearance of one of their key defensive assets, Olawale Doyeni.
The club management’s decision to declare Doyeni “Absent Without Leave” (AWOL) has left NPFL fans shocked and highly disappointed.
Footballrover understands that the former Dakkada FC star, a stalwart of the Rangers’ defense and a linchpin of their past success, has reportedly vanished from the Nkponkiti Players’ camp without any official permission.
This move comes as the team gears up for the highly anticipated start of the new season, leaving his teammates and fans bewildered by the player’s abrupt departure.
The club’s administrative secretary, Barr. Ferdinand Ugwuarua, expressed deep concern over the circumstances leading to the Centre-Back disappearance.
“We are deeply concerned that the player, who had already joined the team late for preseason activities, has now left the camp without trace. Despite our best efforts to locate him, his whereabouts remain a mystery. Therefore, the club has been left with no choice but to declare Olawale Doyeni AWOL,” stated Ugwuarua in an official communication addressed to the National Football Federation (NFF).
Olawale Doyeni’s absence has raised eyebrows, especially considering his significant contributions to the team’s stellar performance in the previous season.
A key figure in the club’s journey, Doyeni was expected to play a pivotal role in helping Enugu Rangers achieve their targets for the forthcoming 2023/2024 football season.
His sudden and unexplained departure has left fans questioning the future trajectory of the team.
While the exact circumstances behind Doyeni’s disappearance remain shrouded in uncertainty, the announcement has ignited speculation and debates across various social media platforms.
Olawale Doyeni, who has featured in over 88 NPFL games, joined Enugu Rangers in November 2021 from Dakkada FC as a free agent.
