Bendel Insurance has their sights set on NPFL glory—and their chairman is ready to back it with action.

Emperor Jarret Tenebe made an unscheduled visit to the team after their emphatic 5-0 win over FC Rolly in a preseason friendly, assuring players of improved welfare and bigger incentives ahead of the 2025/26 NPFL season, Footballrover reports.

Tenebe’s speech wasn’t just motivational—it was a firm commitment. He emphasised that Bendel insurance squad would enjoy better accommodations, new vehicles, and other rewards if they delivered results.

— “We know you deserve good accommodations and new vehicles as well as other forms of incentives to motivate and boost your morale. When morale is high, you can expect good results. We are here to boost your morale for you to perform well.”

He acknowledged the club’s struggles in the previous season and praised the team for overcoming them.

He urged Bendel Insurance players to stay focused and dream big, noting that the goal was not just to succeed locally but to make the club a mainstay in continental football.

He also referenced recent efforts by the Edo State government, saying:

— “The Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo just revived Edo Transport Line, so we in the sports sector will ensure that our governor continues to support Bendel Insurance to get to an enviable height.”

Joined by Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele of the Edo State Sports Commission, Tenebe made his mission clear—push for the NPFL title and take insurance to the continent.

The chairman stressed the importance of motivation and morale and made a strong promise:

— “We can win the league; let’s work towards that, and you will be rewarded handsomely.”

Coach Ikhenoba Backs Chairman’s Vision for Bendel Insurance

Reacting to the visit, the Benin Gunners head coach Greg Ikhenoba praised the chairman for always standing by the team, even during tough times.

He recalled how Tenebe gave the players $3,000 in winning bonuses—even after a match they didn’t win—as a morale booster.

— “We deeply appreciated the honourable chairman’s visit, which had been unexpected,” Ikhenoba said. “He had demonstrated love and faith in the team… and travelled with us for away matches just to show support.”

The coach affirmed that the squad is now fully focused and locked in as they enter closed camping, with grade A friendlies and the Bayelsa preseason tournament lined up.

— “We will not let the management down,” he added.
