Belgium kicked their World Cup campaign off with a narrow victory over brilliant Canada side at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan, Qatar on Wednesday night.
Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid, and Belgium Goalkeeper, was undoubtedly the hero of the Group F, first round, second match between Belgium and Canada.
Prior to Belgium taking the lead just before halftime, Canada had a strong first half and even had a penalty kick saved by Davies.
Then, in the second half, the Belgium team took control of the match and won convincingly against a talented opposition.
Canada had 22 shots fired at Belgium goalpost with 3 of the shots on target, while the Canadian goalkeeper, Milan Borjan, had only 9 shots fired at his post with three of the shots on target.

Canada showed more attacking intent in the second half as well, but they simply couldn’t find the net β they ended the match having accumulated 2.61 xG.
