Rivers Angels on Wednesday emerged victorious in their South-South Derby against Bayelsa Queens FC in the ongoing National Women’s Football League (NWFL).
The crucial 1-0 home win ensured that the Jewels of Rivers booked their place in the prestigious Super Six.
The only goal of the match came in the 89th minute of the second half, courtesy of Otubo Patience.
This win marks a significant turning point for Rivers Angels, who have historically struggled against Bayelsa Queens on home turf.

Following the match, Footballrover caught up with Sierra Leonean midfielder Bangura Sarah, who expressed her delight at playing for the Port Harcourt-based team.
With a background that includes stints with FC Kallon in Sierra Leone and Inter Taoyuan FC in Taiwan, Sarah brings a wealth of experience to the Rivers Angels side.
Having joined the team recently, she hopes her experience with the club will propel her towards her dream of playing professional football abroad.
The Sierra Leonean national team captain also aspires to see Rivers Angels claim the NWFL 2023/2024 trophy.
Meanwhile, Rivers Angels’ coach, Whyte Ogbonda, lauded her team’s performance. Coach Ogbonda highlighted the team’s perseverance, stating,
