Babajide David: Nigerian star’s third assist not enough as Rizespor settle for draw vs Konyaspor

In yet another Turkish Super Lig encounter on Saturday, Nigerian forward Babajide David delivered an assist, but it wasn’t enough to secure all three points for his team, Rizespor.

Despite his impressive contribution, Rizespor could only manage a 1-1 draw against Konyaspor at the Çaykur Didi Stadyumu, footballrover reports.

Although David put on an impressive performance, his compatriot, Ibrahim Olawoyin, also played the full 90 minutes in the match.

Babajide David and his teammates entered the clash on the back of a slim 1-0 loss to Gaziantep FK in their previous away fixture, hoping to get back to winning ways but failed to.

The match saw Babajide David make his mark early, setting up Ali Sowe to open the scoring for Rizespor in the 30th minute.

It was David’s third assist of the season in just 11 appearances. However, despite his contributions, Rizespor was unable to hold on to the lead.

Despite several efforts from David, including five successful dribbles and four shots—one of which hit the woodwork—Rizespor could not find a winner.

The result marks Rizespor’s second consecutive game without a win, leaving them in 9th place on the Turkish Super Lig table with 20 points.

Babajide David’s assist was not enough to lift the team, as they now turn their attention to their next fixture against Goztepe, coming up three days before Christmas.

But before then, they will have to trade tackles with Van Spor Kulubu in Turkish Cup round five.

Rizespor will need a much-improved performance to get back to winning ways, as they continue to search for answers following another disappointing draw.
